Bolton Chess Club

Directions: From the M60 take the M61 Preston then immediately take the A666 Bolton. Go down the A666 for about 3 miles and as you approach the first set of traffic lights on the A666 itself get into the inside lane marked M61 Preston and turn left. Stay in the inside lane and 400 yards later at the second set of lights take the second exit, signposted Wigan, into Marsden Road. At the next set of lights turn left into Deansgate. Go through the next set of lights when the YMCA is on the right and on the immediate left is a side street with a small free car park. Park there if you can. Arrive early. Thursday is late night shopping and parking can be difficult.
Access: There is now a chair lift on the stairs at the entrance to the YMCA.

Chorlton Chess Club

Directions: St. John's is situated on the corner of Chequers Road and High Lane.
From the west (Stretford and M60 From Bolton), Come along Edge Lane until the junction of Wilbraham Road and High Lane at traffic lights, and take right hand fork signposted Didsbury, Edge Lane become High Lane. Directions: 1. Travelling from Manchester along Oldham Road which turns into Manchester Road at Hollinwood carry on in to Oldham where you take the by-pass in the direction of Saddleworth to Mumps Bridge round-about
2. From the M60 to Hollinwood/Oldham junction turn right on to Manchester Road into Oldham
3. From the M62/A627(M) take the second turnoff for Elk Mill Retail Park and Oldham. At the top of the slip road on the round-about take the 2nd junction on to Chadderton Way then at the next round-about take the 3rd exit on to Oldham Way until you get to Mumps round-about. Take the 3rd exit on to Lees Road A669. Go through the traffic lights (the fire station is on the right just after the lights). Carrying straight on along Lees Road, you soon descend a hill, at the bottom of which you will see Leesbrook Mill on the right, with the former Bridge Inn (now a DIY shop) situated in front of it. Cross the small bridge after the pub and turn right on to Burton Street. Go up the short hill, and St Edward’s is now on your left, at the first junction, with Spring Lane. Turn left and then immediate left through the gates into the Church Hall car park, then park at the back of the building.
Update: There are likely to be major roadworks at Mumps Roundabout for some time to come, caused by work on the extension to the Metrolink.
